California Northern CFNR

Did UP sell off the old SP route, Davis - Tehama, soon after they got the SP in 1996? This line is currently the CFNR.

I saw a photo tonight of the CFNR and thought it was quite interesting to see an old signal and the communication lines still up. I suppose the block signal system is no longer functional, correct?
