No; NationsBank of NC bought it and assumed the name because it was more widely recognized. One of the first changes was the removal of all AP Giannini's portraits hanging prominently on the wall in each BofA branch. It was a similar deal with the D&RGW's purchase of the SP. None of the Rio Grand's overseas customers had never heard of it, so the corporate name was changed to SP.
