Airlines: One man crew?

With railroads pushing for one man train crews, have airlines started pushing for one pilot yet? I can see that planes could be totally automated, with the pilot just supervising the computer. I saw a story that Alaska Air pilots are feeling squeezed and want to strike. Makes me wonder, have airlines started their own PSR program to squeeze their pilots? What's going on with airlines these days?
