Think of it this way. Spring is like Star Trek - you warp ahead to the new time at 0200 which becomes 0300 just like that. Fall is 1 hour of Groundhog Day - is there something you would like to do over that will take less than an hour, at 0200-0300? Personally, I look forward to recapturing that lost hour of sleep in the Fall.
You have a point though - all the trains would become an hour late in the Spring, not that anybody on an Amtrak train would notice (you're probably parked in a siding at the time anyway). While in the fall, you either have to stop for an hour to get back on schedule, or it provides some convenient padding for Amtrak trains on the UP (do you suppose the Starlight could be on time at least that one day of the year?). I'd be a little more worried in the Fall about airlines - do you circle Denver for an hour to land on time?
