Your statement is only partial accurate. On Sunday, January 6, 1974 Daylight Saving Time (DST) resumed four months earlier than usual and on Sunday, February 27, 1975 (DST) was started two months earlier than usual. Both years were not actually on year round (DST) as it ended on the last Sunday in October in each of those years and started on the last Sunday in April in the years before and after until 1987 when the start was moved to the first Sunday in April and has remained with such a start time until this year when it will start on the Second Sunday in March which is Sunday, March 11th the day after Winterail.

Does anyone know why Arizona, Hawaii and the Eastern Time Zone portion of Indiana opted out of observing Daylight Saving Time (DST) originally?
