Meanwhile, back in the fact-based universe... And, for those who didn't get that spin from the story... The actual public polling shows significant continued support by a large majority of Californians for a first world rail system in California, even the "concept" of HSR, in spite of the track record of this particular fiasco at the CHSRA. California has three of the four busiest intercity rail corridors in the United States, so people vote with their own travel choices by buying tickets, when they have time competitive, high frequency, affordable rail passenger alternatives, to California's increasing congested intercity corridors.

So, by your definition, no public or private transport services serve a "public interest"? That's an interesting perspective, given American history, and the history of modern mechanically powered transport for the last 200 or so years. As to your opinions on the "present degenerate American society", it is probably more of a sad reflection of your own poor self-esteem, and not really any reflection of the part of "American society" who actually like trains on AP, who don't feel any need to spew crap like that.
