(1.) Well, whether he saw it or didn't see it doesn't really matter because he didn't ACT UPON IT. It sounds to me like he just didn't know where he was and which signals were which. He testified to the NTSB that he erroneously thought the signal that was located at the curve was another signal that was in advance of the curve.

(2.) They're not available to the public anymore, but, at one time, you could read the transcript of what he and the other guy in the cab were discussing, time stamped with when they said it. About twenty seconds before the derailment, they were discussing train, equipment and crew scheduling and which trains protected which schedules and between which city-pairs. They were not situationally aware that a sharp curve was coming up.

(3.) The speed restriction on the curve was 30 MPH. Not 35. It would be nice if you could get your facts straight. Or is that just YOUR TRUTH?
