I think that was the strike where Espee ran ads in newspapers, explaining their position. One of the disputes must have involved their efforts in getting rid of hostlers and having road crews retrieve and deliver the power to the engine house. I remember reading in an ad how they tried to explain it to the public by saying, "it's as if you drove your car across town and, when you arrived at your house, you had to have a paid attendant park your car in your garage."

It would be interesting to track down one of those ads by exploring some microfilm at the library.
