If an employee works a non-management position at a RRB participating RR, "vesting" is determined by an RRB formula, not the RR. The status of employment/unemployment, however, is dependent on RR's traffic levels on and its manpower needs.

Go into management, the shoe changes feet, and you're essentially on your own and at the whims of upper management.
