Lots to think about with the RI and MILW.

During the bankruptcy proceedings, if the executives and trustees had been able to:
1) pare the systems to only the best routes, and
2) get federal funding to repair those best routes,
then the companies might have survived.

For RI: The Golden State route was the future.

For Milw: The Seattle/Tacoma transcon was the future.

But the RI trustee sold the Golden State route to SP, and the MILW trustee axed their transcon. You have to wonder how smart those guys were.

After liquidation, the creditors all got paid and shareholders rewarded. Employees had to find new work.
