It's not about helping the wearer have better low light vision, it's to help the wearer be more visible to others in low light conditions. As to why fans want to wear them, I guess it's no different that cop wannabes having police gear, etc.

Maybe hardhats, safety goggles and ankle straps will be the trackside fashion must-haves for the Spring 2023 collections!
