I know of two incidences in Canada where a VIA Rail train went too fast around a curve and clobbered into a house and another one that went through a cross-over too fast and piled up.
These are just incidences that I've been able to recall from memory and have all happened in probably the last twenty years or so. The list is not all-inclusive. Is there something lacking in the training of locomotive engineers and light rail vehicle operators? Is the lure of text messaging so great that employees are willing to violate certain rules? Are employees being worked so much that they're falling asleep at the controls?
