Reading to Philadelphia is a No - Brainer; 80 Miles on the Northeast Extension Pennsylvania Turnpike. The wife & I rode it last summer. The bigger deal is the possibility of reinstating service on the former DL&W New Jersey cutoff between Lake Hopatcong,NJ and Stroudsburg,PA, and maybe - MAYbe even Scranton. The 2 states own the Right of Way, and the Bethlehem / Reading / Easton / Allentown area is now a suburb of both Philly & Metro Newark. The step - son moved the family from New Jersey to Easton, PA., partly to escape the high N.J. property taxes.
