Upon doing some more research, it appears the line was spun off to a short line, so it was never abandoned. When Honda came on the scene and wanted to build a plant where the original line was, I'm sure the short line was more than happy to relocate their railroad around the perimeter of the property, especially with the promise of lots of auto-rack business.
