I copied the following from a friend's Facebook page:
If you're wavering about Fetterman because you have never watched someone recover from a brain injury, know that the brain is an incredibly resilient machine.
You can lose all ability to read, write or speak — things that had once been entirely instinctual — and respond with a gradual recovery and rewiring. It happens a day at a time, seemingly a word and phrase at a time.
All the while, your cognition may be largely unaffected. You're thinking about what to say — but the transfer from thought to language is glitchy. Your strategic mind might be entirely intact — but the act of reading or writing might be temporarily offline.
Imagine a Senator forced to listen more than speak. Someone forced to rely on the input of a team. Someone faced with daily compromise. Someone humbled and appreciative of the opportunity to reclaim what's been lost.
In my view, it's not only a safe bet, it's a blessing in disguise.
