Here's a photo I took on August 26, 1976, FORTY-SIX YEARS AGO, when I made a one-week trip to British Columbia and Alberta.
While on my layover in Lillooet, I noticed this ex-Erie Lackawanna Alco C-425 locomotive that had been purchased by BCOL but had not yet fully paid a visit to the paint shop. Word has it that BCOL bought twelve of these locomotives for $100,000 each, still in reasonable running condition and ran them until they either failed or could be fitted into the re-building program. Eventually they all got the BCOL "two tone green" paint scheme and many years of service.
