Failed by our corrupt union leaders. Stupid to donate only to Dems. Stupid to demand paid sick instead of unpaid time off. Caved on TA

Just another huge failure by the hacks in Cleveland. Too many don't work the schedule and those that do have the escape valve of "Off union business" when they need rest or family time or doctors appointments or whatever. Should have held out for more on the Biden admin's original TA negotiations (Biden didn't negotiate anything, it was his admin, which makes this extremely labor unfriendly TA even more inexcusable.)
Though eventually the media somewhat figure out that it's more about time off than the money, it took too long. Weak communication effort by the unions, there should have been a clear and loud theme about working conditions the entire time. The public shrugs their shoulders at wanting a pay raise. Once they figure out the real brutal hours and constant fatigue and no regular sleep cycles and can't take time off for even doctors or funerals beyond mom or kid, then they get mad. A few stories laid it out, but too little and too late.
Which is why falling for the paid sick leave trick was a self-defeating move. Ask for unpaid time off just to meet basic family obligations or doctors or reduce fatigue buildup and people get behind that. Reasonable request. But demand paid sick leave and you lose a lot sympathy. "Too selfish to want pay for not working." "I don't get paid sick leave." And that's where you lose some Congressmen that could have been won over for improving the TA.
Despite the lies of Democrat apologists, there are GOP members of Congress who recognize the chance to win over more of the working class. Trump is an unprincipled loudmouth show clown that followed through on maybe a third of his promises (maybe) but he was on to something with his appeal to the blue collar common sense working man. But when the corrupt union hacks only give to the Dems in every election we lose much of our ability to win votes and get our issues through Congress. You don't need 100% GOP support, you don't even need half, but you need more than the lie to your face support of Democrats. The grave has been dug for years by corrupt Cleveland hacks, Biden just shoved us in it.
