Mr BS may have some swamp land in Arizona for sale, but beware as he seems to live up to his name.

Since there weren't design specs of the stolen items in the news article, I turned to Google.

Sun Extender 255 amp hour, 12 volt sealed glass mat batteries list for $918.93 each. This site offers them at a "discount" price of $2127 for 4, so 16 batteries alone comes to $8504.

And here's some 125 watt solar panels on sale for $525 ea at quantity 4, so that's another $4200 for eight panels. Note this site offers other panels at over $1000 each.

So far the [estimated] missing hardware totals $12704, (or add another $4000 for the more expensive panels)

These prices are before freight from the vendor, much less whatever is required getting them to the installation site near Pulga. The news report said it was likely an ATV was used in the theft, so it seems likely that "curb delivery" could be expensive.

Since its likely that thieves stealing batteries and panels have cut wire, locks and may also have damaged the structure and panel mounts. Replacing the cut wire, fixing the other miscellaneous damage can very easily bring this to more than $20 grand.

And do you really believe that properly working signals add nothing to the safer passage of trains on any given line, compared to unsignaled territory? Huh??? I suspect few others will agree. UP has a good case that disabling signals impairs the safe passage of trains, regardless of "restricted speed" rules.

Of course, I have no insight as to specifically what hardware was stolen, but a casual review of web pricing suggests that $20K is in the ballpark. Have you priced freeway repair recently?
