Ah, statistics

Port of Los Angeles reports that container traffic in 2008 was about 2/3 of 2009.

The Port of Long Beach reports separately; similar reduction.

Calendar year to date statistics are available if you choose to log monthlies, and compare them to railroad statistics.

===================================================================================================

If you delve into Port statistics, beware: they thimk in 20 foot TEUs.

Remember those 20 footers? Almost all are parked for long term storage; somewhere.

Thirty fives are also being culled out.

10 footers existed briefly; our local fire station has one for temporary storage of "evidence".
