Area of Spain: 195,364 square miles
Area of the United States: 3,797,000,000 square miles
Miles of railroad in Spain: 9,766 miles (2000 miles are "high speed")
Miles of railroad in United States: 140,000 miles
Longest distance between two major cities in Spain: about 560 miles (and Madrid is conveniently located in the middle of the country, so anywhere from Madrid is under 400 miles)
Longest distance...well let's just say New York to Los Angeles, the nation's #1 passenger air route: 2400 miles (and I'm being generous by using Newark instead of JFK, and Ontario instead of JAX)
Yeah, there's a reason we don't do things like (insert your favorite European country that has wonderful high speed rail). We are not comparable. And if you want to prove me wrong, feel free to post your 2022 1040 form showing that you are voluntarily paying 50% of your total income (not adjusted gross income) in federal income tax, along with a proof of payment for it. And then tell your friends and family that we need drastic tax hikes to pay for your luxury train for the top 1%ers so that they don't have to fly.
