This is not a problem, even "pre" "no cabooses"... We dropped the caboose off quite often, and made switching or spotting moves with loco/cars only on local moves in places like Dolores, Long Beach, Los Nietos, Anaheim, Industry, and even good old El Centro, all of the time. We'd come back for the caboose when it was needed. Switching GM South Gate and/or making other moves at Tweedy I can't ever recall us ever using the caboose, same for a most of the Gemco jobs as I recall too....
