While it may be in top mechanical condition, the problems created by ANY train crapping out on the main line is generally cause enough to add a second unit. Few trains, some locals and roadswitchers excluded, and really mostly just baretables- run with a single unit.

Don't forget, 844 is only one part of UP's brand recognition, and expect to see the latest and greatest intermingled with classic icons of American railroading.
