The stumbling block to restoring Amtrak service is that Idaho is a small, politically insignificant state. Our congressional delegation says all the right things about reinstating Amtrak service, but when it comes down to it, their agribusiness and tech donors will always get what they want and if that means no money for Amtrak, oh well.
