Hey T Judah, are you saying that Santa Fe didn't run passenger services between SoCal & the Bay Area over Tehachapi ??? If so, you may want to read up on their trains ' The Saint ' & ' The Angel ', which operated on a 13 hour schedule between La Grande Station Los Angeles and Richmond, CA. These trains ran with sleepers & coaches on an overnight schedule, and ran between 1912 & 1918, when operating conditions were more demanding.
