We are all waiting for Mr. Mike P to up date us as there is a dearth of information available either from the NCRA or the "operator". Currently, the right of way seems to have been cleared all the way from the Petaluma Bridge thru the South end of Santa Rosa, at least there is a absence of trees growing in the middle of the tracks. The State seems to have put the tracks back in good shape which had been burried due to Hiway 101 bridge construction.

Having said that, a review of the NCRA minutes gives little evidence of progress. There is even a question by the operator as to why the reopening needs to be pushed back to late 2008. I guess everyone is working hard to get the thing going but after ten years of diligent effort what is the result? FEMA money seems to have been spent for Box cars and the revenue from them seems to be classified. Funding from Cal Trans has been spent to pay off some debt and make some minor repairs.

We see no evidence of status reports as to these repairs contained in the minutes. Bottom line, if this line starts at all it will be after the "Smart" transit tax is passed. Since they own the south end and will basically be responsible for the track.
