Just wondering if anyone here remembers the Mountain Outin' fan excursion from Los Angeles to Bakersfield in 1979 ? The Northbound train has a REALLY CLOSE CALL with a vehicle load of foamers that tried to turn in front of the train near Edison ( maybe Comanche Road X-ing ) ? As I recall, the auto overturned and landed rather close to the tracks. The assembled members of law enforcement, including CHP and the Espee special agent, performed a quick inspection, determined no damage had occurred to the train, and sent us on our way. A quick look at the auto as we passed did confirm that the occupants were heading for a hospital stay.
