I've got some slides of the ex-Milwaukee stations at Hettinger, ND (still in use and a crew change point), McLaughlin, SD (now razed) and Aberdeen, SD (still in use with some other tenants). I'll post them as time permits.

They definitely weren't cheap but different people have different incomes and, for some people, the fares would be viewed as "pocket change." I figured they were worth it due to the fact that they would never be repeated. Credit cards and installment payments helped. On a 2000 trip to Mexico I split a ticket with another guy. I rode southbound and he rode northbound.
