I'm sure many people on this list do care. I'm amazed at the detailed info posted on SE and Central Washington on this board. I was just at Feeley Spur (and Coeur d'Alene Jct., Grand Junction, McGuire Jct., Manito) for the first time even though I've been to Spokane hundreds of times. Of note was the large welded rail in place on the first mile or so of the SI Cd'A branch and the fact that a mainline train pulled onto the branch and the crew tied down the train and was hauled off in a van at the moment I arrived. So the branch is being used as a single ended siding--not something you see every day in railroading.
In the here-today-gone-tomorrow department I'd suggest a trip to Winona, Washington on a nice spring or summer day to enjoy lunch at the miniscule park (one picnic table) in the wye within a wye. (Road wye within a tight RR wye.) This is the junction of the old UP main to Spokane and the southern end of the Pleasant Valley branch. All lines are in service in an area more known for abandoned roadbeds.
Does anyone know of photos of trains at the Milw/SP&S mainline crossing (SP&S over Milw) near McCall, WA?
For the unitiated, Rosalia is a must see in the Spokane area. Hike the impressive Milwaukee bridges over the NP and GN lines.
