Assaults on UK trains triple over last decade as staff 'abused and threatened daily'
Crimes on the railway network have risen by 5.4% over the last year, as the number of crimes solved dropped
A shocking new report reveals that assaults aboard British trains have soared to their highest level in a decade. Figures from the Office of Rail and Road shows that the total number of assaults rose from 3,211 in 2014/15 to 10,231 in the last year. At the same time, fresh British Transport Police (BTP) data says crimes on the railway network have also risen by 5.4% in 2024/25. On the other hand, the BTP data shows that the number of crimes solved by the police had dropped to just 11.9%.
