I recall that back in the 1970's the SP would park a train loaded with fire fighting equipment such as those red painted tank cars carrying water in the Colfax yard. Where is it now?
Could such equipment had been used to fight the trestle fire as well. Was it actually used to help the CDF fight forest fires too?
I have heard that creosote is actually unavailable for sale in California due to be barred from sale by the states stricter enviromental laws when compared to other states like Nevada for example? Is that assumption true?
Are there other wooden trestles on main rail lines that are also at risk for fire in California as well? Name some?
Wasn't there one near Modesto that burned down a few years ago as well?
