As of last week the UP had taken the Modoc Line out of service south of Perez. The track inspector found a significant section of wide guage track that needed repair north of Hackamore. Last Tuesday they ran as far south as Staley just below Stronghold. The Lake Railroad is delivering loads of perlite from Lakeview to Alturas, but the cars were stranded there until UP decides what to do with their line to Alturas. The local had a SD-90 MAC leading on the southbound trip on Tuesday, June 9 on the turn to Staley. All customers in the Klamath Basin are being served twice a week by the UP local.
