Believe me, I wasn't apologizing for the news industry's failings. As a journalism student, I agree that the media as a whole is a rather sorry bunch. My post was mainly to point out that the AP is not a European organization and secondly to point out that they don't (consciously, anyway) do the bidding of European governments or corporations--they may be wildly incompetent, but they're not willful liars and propagandists. Believe me, I have no love for that industry...
