As usual Coleman has his head in a posistion other than normal( I would write him a prescription for a plexiglassexctomy)"Replace belly button with sheet of plexiglass".
UP will have the other leg of the wye at Binney Jct back in by late today. UP is not treating Amtrak badly with the running North to Binney. Did coleman ever think Amtrak might not want to use busses to Portola.
UP does not allow outside excursions because they have feright traffic to run and feel that with the capacity issues they do not need some passenger train to get in the mix and if they delayed this extra excursion people like Coleman would find away to complain and bash the UP.
Sammie is right on that only UP or BNSF and maybe NS could repair the bridge in two weeks. After the Hurricanes I doubt that our government in Washington could get it done in less than a year they would use FEMA.
UP had detours from Stockton up the FRC in place by 2300 the night of the fire and they are running trains that bypass Roseville Down the WP, and the BNSF trackage rights trains Stockton to Denver will not run until the bridge is fixed BNSF opted to move the traffic out of Stockton to Barstow over the BNSF route to and from Denver.
UP has trains moving and while not as fluid as they were before the bridge fire they are only adding about 24 hours to transit times.
As for the UP engineer who only stays for the job security, if he does not like it there leave.
I know many BNSF employees who want to leave the BNSF and move to somewhere better but in the end they or the UP employee know they do have good paying jobs with security and they stay where they are.
