I am not exactly sure of when the last use of the Third St. trackage ocurred, but I do recall the SP/UP Armageddon occured not long afterward. I do know for sure the track was still in service in 1992 as #3985, as part of the 1992 NRHS San Jose convention, used that track. I do recall, they did not cross Broadway and a lone SD40 pulled the entire train, including #3985 back to Niles.
