Yes, I do just "think" that PTC will reduce railroad accidents overall and reduce the severity of many accidents that will continue to occur, significantly.
I also "think" that human error, even with PTC, has been and still will likely be the the most frequent cause of the accidents that do occur. I also "think" that good training, vetting, and testing does matter, and yet, it will not be perfect, either. The systems and technologies we will "employ" will sometimes fail too. The quality of components and nature will affect any man made system over time. And, we learn from it and try to control those things. Because we are not perfect, nor is our technology.
People never get tired or confused, or get bad information, or are under pressure to perform, with enough training, none of that occurs, right? However, for such perfect people, as yourself, not even prone to a few "typos", we bow down to that obvious perfection.
I guess those accident reports, photos, and videos of accidents in TWC territory that I've seen and reviewed over the years never occured either? Because simple is always better, right? We could run complex railroad operations better today by running everything dark with TWC, because it is, after all, simpler?
What was your point again? Is it that we shouldn't use our most advanced technologies to try to make people safer? Or is it that it is all part of the great political conspiracy theory to make us do terrible things like protect lives or make our railroads more efficient? Or is it that we will all be so much better off in a world of Luddites?
