The depot was torn down and moved one block west to avoid building an overpass of the tracks at 4th street. The west end of the station covered platform was build to allow cars to cross over fourth street and required a crossing guard (flagman) to protect the trains and cars. The city wanted SP to build an overpass so that traffic and trains would not mix.
In the end we got an RV park and a new depot at 4th street.
Come to think about it, trains for the evening commute fleet would block 4th street for approx 2-3 hours every evening as trains loaded for points south (SP East).
