I agree 1 block would hardly do much, that was just what I had heard in the past...

So what was street traffic like in those days? Obviously differnet since there were no Giants games, no condominiums or apartments and no offices/UCSF in Mission Bay. If they wanted to build an overpass though it must have been somewhat busy, but nothing like today. Was it mostly trucks and industrial in that area? Sorry, I wasn't born until 1983, so I only know that area as a "bad neighborhood" from growing up and now a good one thanks to the Giants.
