The "
Umatilla Turn," a Union Pacific local freight, returns to the Hinkle classification yard in Eastern Oregon.
In 1996, the depot's name was changed to the Umatilla Chemical Depot, and approximately 12 percent of the nation's chemical munitions were stored there.
Incineration was completed in October 2011, the incineration plant was demolished, and the depot was closed on August 1, 2012.
