Toad was threatening some dropping over political issues but I can't for the life of me see how
you can divorce public transit from politics. It's not like there isn't hope, Sacramento, San Diego, the San Joaquins, all do well enough to be worth supporting but whether it's HSR or SMART, this is probably the wrong time to start something new. The state needs to figure out how to get to a zero level without driving off everyone before spending any more. As I've said in previous posts, once they figure out how 2% assessed looks and how to ditch Prop 13 all bets are off, they might have money which will last until everyone leaves. I heard today from my bro's in Fresno that the Mendota unemployment rate is 72%, pretty much thanks to a fish that isn't even close to being endangered. From the Ten Years After song, "tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more".
