We took a group of about 10 couples 10 years ago and said "once is enough"!! Thanks to customary UP treatment we were 4 hours late getting into Reno and another 4+ hours late leaving on Sunday. Interesting that they may bag the whole thing. I know our Amtrak engineer friends think it's a great gig in terms of time, pay and of course, the layover in Reno for some action.
