I only hope SMART is SMART enough to explore all the CURRENTLY AVAILABLE options before committing to a particular design. Don't go with a Pie - in - the - Sky promise about how good it's gonna be; buy something that exists & is proven in a real - world environment. Maybe the emissions deal won't be perfect; but SMART could point out the carbon credits ( or whatever ) that they are earning by taking cars off the roads. So what if it's not FRA complaint; there won't be many freights to dodge anyways. ( sorry Mike P. ) Also, SMART can learn from Portland Tri - Met's tribulations with buying from a new unproven supplier, if SMART is SMART...
