W&I storage car question /track removal

Was in Pullman yesterday and saw you guys pull out the centerbeams from the Pullman Yard, local store keep said he thought they were pulled out so City of Pullman can remove the tracks to build a park. Say it ain't so?? Were they not just last month discussing passenger service over the lines?? Thanks for your reply.
