Don't be so relieved.

TV news ratings and newspaper readership numbers (in percentages of population) were declining long before the internet came of age. A huge part of that decline was fueled by people's search for alternatives, including the alternative of ignoring the media altogether - most of the time! Call it the Dan Blather syndrome.

It was not until long after the decline began, that TV stations and newspapers began putting their own stuff on the net. It was a defensive act in reality.

Trouble is, what makes anyone think news found on the internet will be any more accurate or less one sided. There is though, the slight possibility with the internet, that the shear numbers of seemingly independent sources - just might make possible a more diverse set of viewpoints being heard.

One can only hope! --- too bad the traditional media wasn't interested in presenting diverse viewpoints. It truely was their downfall.
