I don't know who "Martin" is, but do know who "Todd" is. I'm really not a railbuff and don't take pictures of trains, but I know a lot of people who do and apparently they don't particularly appreciate it when their photos/videos/recordings are impacted by someone using a helicopter. More than one person has emailed me sharing with me their experiences with him, not just this particular venue but in the past, too. Personally, to me it's kinda funny, given the subject matter - i.e., taking pictures of trains. Not very important in the overall Grand Scheme of things.

It's the same thing with the way he runs his web site. I completely understand that it's his web site and he can run it as he pleases, and that no one's having a gun held to their head and being forced to plunk down their hard-earned money. But over the last few years a number of people have shared with me their experiences with him, and it makes me shake my head. Not in disbelief, just bewilderment. On the other hand, I know there are also a lot of people who totally revere him. That's fine, and I try to see things from their viewpoint, even though I tend to view the railroad from more of a business or historical standpoint rather than being recreation. But, whatever floats your boat.

So now he's been "chasing" the 4449 with a helicopter, if the emails I've been sent recently are correct. I don't know all the details of who else is involved, whether it's for a video that'll become a retail offering at some point. Quite frankly, I don't care. The complaints I've read are about the helicopter interfering with people's own photos and videos, and the noise it makes. Again, it doesn't effect me, and I'm prone to chuckle about it. But I'm sure that people who've had their photos/videos/recordings ruined aren't laughing.
