JD,
I talked to a Great Lakes Central employee on Saturday July 25, 2009 in Alma, Mi. He told me a pipe broke on the 1225 and that damaged 4 other pipes. They would have to let the 1225 cool down to repair it. I was disappointed since I climbed on the 1225 when it was on display at Spartan Stadium at Michigan State University. That was in 1959. I was hoping to get my first action pictures. It was still a good time. Diana and I rode in the dome on the rainy Thursday July 23, 2009. They wyed the whole train at Alma, Mi. on Thursday. The other days they wyed only the locomotive. Finally got pictures of the 4449 in Daylight Colors. My other pictures of the 4449 are in American Freedom Train colors when it took over the Freedom Train at Rochelle, IL. in 1975.
