Willamette Test Runs at MRSR

Today was a big day in the restoration effort for Rayonier Willamette #2. The first test runs of the locomotive. (She had been steamed up once previously, but did not move under her own power...)



Today the crews swarmed over the engine like ants at a picnic. At about 4:00 PM enough work was completed that the engine could be lit off. That was done, and a few hours later we were ready for a test run.



At about 7:30 PM the moment everyone was waiting for occured. With Jim Gertz at the throttle, the Willamette moved under her own power. The tests went well. A few more details remain before the locomotive is ready for her public debut on August 8th.
