Sadly, it is only the five miles of North Shore Line's Skokie Valley Route between Howard Street in Chicago / Evanston and Dempster Street in Skokie. And to make matters worse, the overhead has been taken out of service by CTA from East Prairie Avenue to Dempster. It's all third rail now. The North Shore Line was fast, dependable, safe, and luxurious, and the standard for the best interurban transportation had to offer. Should not have been abandoned in 1963, but by that time the Edens Expressway and Tri-State Tollway were sucking its traffic dry!
