Are you sure about the Navajo Indians and not another Indian Nation? The SP as far as I know did not get near the Najavo Nation which are in Northern Arizona. BNSF crosses the Navajo Nation even today through New Mexico, and Arizona.
The Indian communities in Southern Arizona are numerous including the Apache; Pima and Papago both apart of the T'Ohono Odom Nation today, and Yuma and other Indian communities of which the SP crossed all.
