12-27-65 CB&Q # 22, the Mornng Zephyr leans into the curve at the "Big Rock Cut" just east of Oregon, Ill. The rock cut sits on a curve with the speed limit sign "Z-75" for the Zephyr speed limit of 75 MPH. One shot catches the dome coach # 4725, the "Silver Island" in view as the train sweeps thru the cure at 75 MPH.
Disposition of dome-coach Silver Island -- The "Silver Island" coach for the 'Twin Zephyr' became BN 5480 (not applied), to Amtrak 9540, retired 10/81 to Dr. Tim Watson, sold during 1986 to Westinghouse Corp Bloomington IN as static display planned for use as a sales/demo office, Company and car re-sold during 1991 to ASEA Brown Boveri - same location, re-sold during 1996 to Tom Johnson/Branson Scenic RR - car in service.
