Umm ... does the FD dispatcher have UP's police phone# like Freericks does in his cell phone? Might cut out a stop or 2. He seems to have gotten through to the right people and describe the situation so that reactions occurred much faster.

Might also be good to have FD and law enforcement get a little training about sending somebody a mile or so down the track each way and flagging or having an incoming police unit do that. Also, FD etc could get training on where to find the crossing # stenciled on the equipment someplace - come to think of it, UP's phone# should be on the relay box so somebody with a cell phone can call it while dispatch is looking for it - more basic training. I'm happy this one worked out OK - barely.
